Yesterday’s luxuries, tomorrow’s necessities
In April 1973, a Motorola employee named Martin Cooper made the first ever call on a handheld mobile phone and history was changed forever. A decade later, the DynaTAC made its appearance to the public – weighing in at 750 grams, with a talk time of only 30 minutes on a full charge that took 8 hours.
With a price tag of roughly € 9000 in today’s currency, the phone was very expensive. Nicknamed “The Brick”, by modern day standards the phone is considered extremely unwieldy. Back then however, the phone was revolutionary.
